Widely acclaimed by critics the world over, The 39 Steps is a superb mystery thriller that established Alfred Hitchcock’s reputation as the ‘master of suspense’. Starring Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll, the film tells the story of a Canadian visitor to London who must outwit a deadly spy ring, and the police, in a bid to clear his name after he wrongly becomes the chief suspect in the murder of a female secret agent.
