Winner of the Oscar for ‘Best Foreign Language Film’, The Counterfeiters tells the true story of the largest counterfeiting operation in history. Set up by the Nazis during World War 2, their aim was to de-stabilise the economies of allied countries by flooding them with counterfeit money. However, for the Jewish forgers forced to do the work, the operation posed numerous moral dilemmas as they were not only kept in relative luxury compared to other prisoners but also knew what their fate would be should they succeed and their usefulness become surplus to requirement...
