Festival back for second year
They are a five piece indie rock band from Rothwell, Leeds, with influences such as The Beatles, The Kinks and The Velvet Underground. The Pigeon Detectives, formed in 2002, and found acclaim among DJs and the musical press when they performed at 2006 Reading and Leeds festivals,
This the second festival takes place exactly where it says, at The Playground, which is at Richmond Terrace, Whitehaven, on Friday May 18 and Saturday May 19 There are 45 acts and four stages over the two days.
The organisers have promised improvements having learned lessons from last year’s event.
“We got a lot of very positive feedback this year and hope we have acted on it .This year we have firstly improved the bars this was our main concern from last year, and something we needed to sort out; so I can say there will be no repeat of last year. We will have bigger outdoor bars on site and a separate soft drink bars as well as shot stations on site,” say the organising team.
The Lottery Winners lead the line up for the Friday night. They were winners of Live and Unsigned 2010, a competition involving 15,000 entrants.
They are a Manchester-based quartet who derive their music from an eclectic mixture of musicians, ranging from The Beach Boys to The Smiths. Live. They tend to play sets that consist of not only original, catchy music, but also give a humorous charm that will keep you entertained the whole night through Saturday’s main stage is to be hosted by Bez of the Happy Mondays.
