Says founding Jam bass guitarist Bruce Foxton - "We are really excited to be coming back to Whitehaven to play another show. Last year's sold out gig was phenomenal. We've just returned from playing sold out shows across America and Canada. The reaction from the other countries has been overwhelming."

This is second time 'From The Jam' will play the Civic Hall in nine months (they first time they played to a sold out crowd at the Civic Hall was on 31st August 2007).

From The Jam: Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler, two thirds of the original line-up of The Jam, embarked on a major 23-date UK tour in November and December 2007. The autumn tour followed hot on the heels of the band's sold-out 20-date UK tour during May of the same year. During 2007, the band played to over 60,000 people in the UK. The overall reaction from the fans has been phenomenal.

During January and February 2008, the band completed a wildly successful 14-date North American tour which begins on 24th January 2008 at the House of Blues in San Diego, California and saw sold out shows in Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Toronto.

The band are currently wrapping up a sold out tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Overall, public and media reaction in the UK, North America and Australia to Foxton and Buckler's tours were filled with nothing but praise and adoration. "The fans have proven to us that they still feel passionate about the music of the Jam," says original Jam bassist Bruce Foxton. "We're still genuinely overwhelmed by the support and interest in the band."

Foxton and Buckler will perform all of The Jam's greatest hits and classic tracks from their studio albums including 'That's Entertainment', 'A Bomb In Wardour Street', 'This Is The Modern World', 'Going Underground', 'A Town Called Malice', 'The Gift', plus other Jam originals written by Foxton including 'Smithers Jones' and 'News of the World'.

Foxton and Buckler are in the process of recording new material for release in 2008, including fresh versions of Bruce's own early songs. A live DVD that was filmed at the band's December 19th 2007 sold-out London Kentish Town Forum concert will be officially released in Europe during June 2008. The DVD will also include an audio CD recording of the same concert.

"We deliberately set out to make the May 2007 UK gigs intimate," says Bruce. "For us it's all about getting closer to the fans. The concerts in November and December saw us playing larger venues, accompanied with a bigger show. The North American tour will give our American and Canadian fans a chance to see us play for the first time in twenty-six years (Foxton and Buckler last toured with the original line-up of The Jam back in '82).

In 2006, Bruce Foxton joined Rick Buckler, Russell Hastings and Dave Moore as a special guest during concerts in Guildford, Birmingham and Brighton.

“I have reflected on the continual demand from the public for a full Jam reunion,” said Foxton. “Rick and I have talked this over carefully. The Jam still means so much to everyone, including ourselves.”

The current line-up includes Russell Hastings (vocals, guitar), Bruce Foxton (bass, vocals), Dave Moore (keyboards, guitar) and Rick Buckler (drums).

“The songs still sound powerful,” adds drummer Rick Buckler. “The crowds went crazy on the recent UK tour. The songs sound bigger and more edgy."

The band's current live show is intense, musically proficient, dynamic and raw. The recent London concert kicked off with a thunderous live version of 'This is the Modern World' that was soon followed by a rapturous version of the Kink's classic 'David Watts' and the Who's 'So Sad About Us'.

The 90-minute show didn't let up while the band continued to churn out cutting edge versions of 'Private Hell', 'Bomb on Wardour Street', 'That's Entertainment' and 'Going Underground'. The encore set temperatures rising with stunning renditions of 'Down at the Tubestation' at Midnight', 'The Gift' and 'Town Called Malice'.
