Haig Colliery Mining Museum

Haig Colliery Mining Museum will be moving their 3 diesel locomotives to The Eden Vally Railway by the end of Sept. This move follows several years where they have remained idle in the loco shed at Haig, following the removal of all the rails. It has been a long term plan of the museum to find a home for the engines so that they can be fully restored and worked, they will remain part of Haigs collection so this also brings a nice link between the 2 charities.
The loco shed will also be moving with the engines leaving space within Haigs grounds for future development.
Haigs Manager Pamela Telford said " we are very pleased that our locos are going somewhere still within the county and where better than somewhere they can be fully restored, appreciated and accessible to the public, far better than standing idle in our loco shed."
Saturday 11th Sept Haigs Heritage open day will allow people to view the engines on their free site tours before they are transported to Warcop, please ring 01946599949 for more details.
"We are very grateful to the guys at Eden Valley Railway for taking our engines and look forward to seeing them happily running up and down their lines"
