To celebrate British Tourism Week, Whitehaven's Tourist Information Centre is holding a special event to celebrate all that Copeland has to offer as a visitor destination. Throughout the day, the centre will play host to local producers including Mawsons of Bailey Ground, Seascale, Woodalls of Waberthwaite and Hartley's Ice cream of Egremont, who will all have stalls at the centre. Local poet Janice M Robinson, featured in the current Whitehaven Guide's Poetry Corner, will be showcasing her work which celebrates the heritage and culture of the Copeland area. Some of her poems will be on display in the Tourist Information Centre from Wednesday 17th March, and Janice will be on hand throughout the event on Friday 19th March to discuss her poems and for poetry readings. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
The highlight of the event is the "Celebrate Copeland - Prize Draw" with a host of wonderful prizes on offer donated from businesses throughout the borough of Copeland. "We are delighted with just how generous local businesses have been in helping us to promote Copeland" said Kathy Cunliffe, TIC Supervisor.
