Everything Is Tip Top at The Lamplugh Tip

Low Beams-Open Fire Place-Huge Thick Walls-Real Ales and Wooden Panelling all point to a True Cumbrian Country Pub, and The Lamplugh Tip at Lamplugh has all of the above.

Recently re-opened after a careful loving refurbishment, the atmosphere, the summer scent and the ambience make you relax and feel right at home as soon as you walk into The Lamplugh Tip.

Chris says ‘The Lunch Time Menu consists of Excellent Pub-Grub, nothing too fancy, just good old traditional Bar-Meals and Snacks. The evening Menu is were you will find Old Favourites such as, Sirloin Steaks, Giant Yorkies with various fillings, Minted Lamb and the Unquestionably Undisputed Local favourite, Cumberland Sausage, plus there is lots more to choose from.' However, Chris is being extremely modest as the food at The Lamplugh Tip is Divine. After eating there recently   What is really worth mentioning is the fact that Chris also serves up smaller portions for those who do not have a huge appetite, an absolute Brilliant idea.

The Lamplugh Tip Pub derives its name in True Cumbrian fashion from when sheep auctions were once held behind the pub. A male Sheep or Ram is also known as a Tup, add into the equation the Beautiful West Cumbrian dialect and Tup becomes Tip, hence local Farmers would refer to The Lamplugh Tip.

Already the Free house is attracting a large number of customers with the response being excellent. Chris explains ‘Already we have had people booking Christenings & Birthday parties with even someone enquiring as to when we are taking bookings for Christmas Parties, its great.'

The Lamplugh Tip, which stood empty for nine months, has been saved, renovated and re-opened by a well-known local family.
Chris Corkhill and his Mam ‘Glenys' and Dad Geoff Corkhill (Who was the main building contractor in the renovation, but he doesn't like to mention it, Honest!) have successfully been in the Pub trade for the last 7 years with The Candlestick a while back  and now Sydney's, which are both situated in Whitehaven.
Drawing on their experience, they know exactly what their customers desire.
The Family run Pub also have the latest Corkhill-Edition to welcome in their customers, with newborn Baby ‘Wyatt Corkhill', he's only a few weeks old.(Aahhh)
So Chris is rather busy at the moment.

Chris serves Guest Real Ales from local Micro- Breweries such as The Whitehaven Brewery Company and the Legendry Jennings is on Tap at the Tip, which is Top.
Lagers - Beers and Wines from all over the world are available, however, if you fancy a Whisky, there are over 24 different Whiskeys- Malts and Bourbons to choose from and if you are a sports fan Chris has even installed Sky Sports & Setanta.

The Lamplugh Tip is open from 12-2pm for Lunches; Evening meals from 6-9pm and on Saturdays & Sundays Meals are served all day from 12pm until 9pm.

So, if you are passing by on your way to Cockermouth or coming from that direction don't forget to stop off and enjoy what is on offer at The Lamplugh Tip Inn. It's Tip- Top.
